Searching for self-redemption from the burning House of Lugard.

World Igbo Congress convention scheduled to hold in Detroit Michigan, September 3 – 6, 2015. We need WIC now, more than ever before as we attempt to extricate ourselves from the uncomfortable position between Scylla and Charybdis in the looming discomfort among our ethnic compatriots at home. Consequently we have placed a premium on providing ample opportunity for all in the WIC family to exhale in our determination to give WIC a new lease of life. We have also enlightened you on the giant strides we are making to make ala Igbo the Mecca of advanced specialty healthcare for all and sundry at affordable costs. It’s all about guts and glory. My people, these are reasons you cannot be missing in action. But wait, that’s not all. Quite recently, the chairman of World Igbo Congress, Joe Nze Eto drew attention to the 1958/1959 British-induced, Dappa Biriye-led Niger Delta Congress (NDC) and Northern People’s Congress (NPC) alliance which was formed to derail NCNC win at the national pre-independence elections. That alliance stayed effective through the 1983 national elections with no significant benefits to the NDC. That was the unholy alliance that has perpetrated political impropriety that has been holding the Igbo down all these years. Our people have not helped matters either. Our approach to the solution of our political quandary has, at best been epileptic and spontaneous without any long term planning. Ndi b’anyi ta ka bu gboo to plan for 5, 10 or even 50 years down the road. We can start by laying the foundation and then brick by brick put together a home-based alliance that could stand the test of time until we once again take our place of pre-eminence in the polity. This is what drove the vision for WIC to work towards the third cornerstone of this convention: forging of southeastern and south-south alliance for posterity. I am pleased to inform you all that this World Igbo Congress has worked assiduously to prepare for you a high octane exchange aimed at this objective. I have provided below a sample, mark my word, a sample of people of note and consequence who have beckoned to the call to promote ala Igbo through projects and alliances. It doesn’t get better, people! See the sample of the lineup:
